Divine Service for 8/3/14; Pastor Houser’s sermon. In Isaiah 55, the prophet writes the word of God. “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Why spend…your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good….Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.”

God has made a covenant with us Christians through Jesus Christ. In Matthew 14, Jesus feeds the crowd with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. They have no money but they eat bread from heaven. We are like the crowd in that we gather around our Lord Jesus Christ and are fed by Him with spiritual food. Our righteousness comes from Christ.
